Some History of Challenge.
Challenge Paintball first opened in 1994 using Tippman Mk I and Mk II pump action markers and ran for several years with great success. The old pump action weapons were upgraded to semi automatic Tippmans in 1997 which allowed players much greater accuracy and a higher rate of fire without the need to pump each shot. In 1999 paintball across Victoria hit a brick wall with the State Government introducing law which made it illegal for anyone to play paintball unless they held a shooters licence. This resulted in paintball being put on hold for several years and led to the search for another way to allow the team building and military style games to continue. in 2003 Challenge Laser Skirmish was born with the first games commencing at Wallan. Laser skirmish quickly grew in popularity as it didn't suffer from the legislative restrictions that paintball did which opened the game up to players of all ages.
After a great deal of pressure and lobbying the Victorian Government revised the laws regarding paintball. In 2004 the law was changed to allow people over the age of 18 to play paintball without the need for a shooters licence. Challenge Paintball was back, bigger and better than ever with new semi-auto Kingman Spiders with greater accuracy and which allow players to fire up to 9 shots per second! Over the years Challenge Paintball
has also worked hard to find what we believe are the perfect goggles for our conditions with little fogging and excellent eye, face and ear protection. This means that Challenge provides the perfect weapons and safety
gear to ensure every player has an exciting, adrenaline filled day.
Around the same time Challenge acquired a variety of Sup-Air (pictured). The Sup-Air allowed laser skirmish to become mobile. Laser Skirmish can now be played at Conference centres, at business's work place, or anywhere where space is available which means if you can't come to us, we can come to you! The other addition which was made in 2004 was the introduction of out laser fields at Upper Beacons Field. With bush fields at Wallan and Upper Beaconsfield and our Urban field at Pipeworks Market no matter where you are in Melbourne a Challenge Laser skirmish field shouldn't be too far away.
